Summary
The paper proposes a new mean of specifying and managing components used in the iDTV domain. The authors make use of XML for component specification dealing with both functional and non-functional requirements of a component. A XML schema is defined in order to provide means for defining the structure and semantics of the proposed specification model. In an example of a XML-based component specification, properties, dependencies, connections and ports are shown. QoS requirements are also specified as property values.

Methods
The authors make use mainly of XML and iDTV.

Systems Integration Relevance
For the OPP project, we are trying to find some standard/specification for describing (software/hardware system) components using a (semi) structural language, such as XML. This paper presents one approach of achieving that, although it is not standardized, nor it provides enough detail needed by us.

Keywords
XML, iDTV, Middleware, QoS, Component Factory.
