| | |
| | The Center for Systems integration provides a state-of-the-art center for multidisciplinary research, teaching and training with a component of service and nucleating beneficial economical activities. The Center's focus is on emerging technologies for real-time embedded system modeling, co-design,co-verification and integration. The Center is envisioned to provide a collaborative environment that induces individual performance and rewards excellence for both university and industry participants, and to contribute to a research and development infrastructure in South Florida. |

| | *History* |
| | |
| | The center was inaugurated in 1993 as the center for VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration) and Systems Integration, as a college-level center so researchers from various departments in the College of Engineering could collaborate across departments. It was sponsored by Motorola Paging Division, Analogy Inc., and Cadence Design Systems, Inc. |
| | The Primary Focus in the early years was on VLSI, EDA (Engineering Design Automation) and low power design. During this early period, the center received three grants for NSF (National Science Foundation). During the 1990s, the EDA field matured rapidly and an integrated flow evolved for hardware design. |
| | However, enhancing design productivity at the system level and software-hardware integration, continue to be major challenges. Since 2001, we have worked closely with Motorola iDEN division, Cadence Design Systems, and more recently with Coware and Ilogix, in evolving and integrated flow that enhances system design productivity significantly. |
